What are our expectations for our teachers?

All our teachers are able to use the following independently:

  • video camera
  • still camera
  • laptop
  • cellphone
*data projector

All our teachers are able to:

  • check an email account daily and manage it efficiently
  • use a computer or laptop and trouble shoot basic functions ie on/off,
connect to printer, connection to internet
  • store and retrieve data from a hard drive eg your computer
  • use the internet to search, find information and to communicate
  • know how to particpate in online environments eg blogs or forums or
Trademe or Facebook etc
  • manage music files in software eg in iTunes
  • manage photo files using software eg iphoto / Microsoft Picture Manager
  • download photos from a camera
  • use a word processing document efficiently
  • store and retrieve data from a hard drive eg your computer

All our teachers will need to learn quickly (with help available) once on the job:

  • edit online pages e.g blog or Google sites
  • manage web storage space – e.g. divshare / dropbox
  • store and retrieve from school network
  • join and use the school wiki for notices and bookings
  • how to record and edit audio
  • create a basic presentation eg Keynote or Google or Prezi or Powerpoint
  • saving files in a variety of file formats (e.g .mov, .jpg, .doc etc)
  • print to networked printers
  • use the data projector
  • use PhotoBooth / Webcam
  • access Google Docs
  • create and edit a short video clip using imovie / Moviemaker
  • create and edit audio using garageband / Audacity / Aviary

Our teachers should aspire to learn how to:
• administer a student blog and/or wiki ie upload content, manage

commenting, manage student use
use Google Apps - personally and with students
use a graphics programme suitable to the level of our students (e.g
Hyperstudio, Pixelmator, Photoshop)
burn to cd and/or dvd
